I think you all know this by now, but I consider myself to be a sauce girl. That means that when I make pasta, I smother it in tomato sauce, when I eat rice, I drown it in soy sauce, and when I eat tacos, I bury them in salsa. To put it in perspective when I go to Chipotle and they ask me which salsa I want, I tell them ALL OF THEM. That being said, whenever I order Mexican, I always judge the experience based on how good their pico is. In fact, the restaurant gets an extra bonus if they serve pico de gallo as the free salsa that they bring over with the chips at the beginning of the meal. However, they also get extra points if they bring over their homemade salsa.. as I said, I am a sauce girl, so salsa gets all the points, all the time. I do not discriminate!
In my last post, I mentioned how I had been ordering Fidela’s throughout quarantine to fulfill my Mexican food cravings. Last time I decided to order the pico de gallo and chips for $5. When I saw that on the menu, I honestly expected it to be a pretty small serving, but it was giant! And SOOOOOO delicious! It was just what you want out of a good pico, lots of fresh tomatoes, onion, jalapenos, cilantro, lime and garlic, with the perfect amount of salt. At one point I abandoned the chips all together and started eating it with a spoon… judge if you want, I don’t care. Somehow I managed to not eat it all in one sitting so I threw the leftovers on my breakfast tacos in the morning and it was just as good the second time around! 10/10 you have to order this when you order from Fidela’s!
