Alright y’all, hear me out… I am a LOYAL Chic Fil A customer, okay? I tried it for the first time a couple years ago when I was visiting my friend in Houston and I fell in love. I will literally drive 40 minutes from Queens to the Roosevelt Field Mall in Long Island so that i can have it. That being said, when all of this controversy about which chicken sandwich was better happened, I sat back and was just like, no contest, Chic Fil A ALWAYS WINS!!! However, I had never tried Popeye’s. I was living in ignorance and didn’t even know it. So, I have a Popeye’s near my house, and I thought you know what? It is quarantine, diets have gone out the window, I am going to get myself the sandwich, and by the sandwich, I mean THE sandwich.
All dramatics aside, this sandwich was amazing. It was a big, juicy chicken breast, heavily battered, with pickles and mayo on a potato bun. What is not to love? And I know what you are wondering: Sarah which is better? And my answer to that question is BOTH. In my mind they were two very different sandwiches. Chic Fil A is a lighter batter and I think it tasted a bit healthier, I am sure it isn’t, but in my head that is part of the appeal. It is also all about the sauce at Chic Fil A. The Popeye’s chicken sandwich had a lot of flavor happening, a little bit salty, but no complaints from me on that end. It was super pickly, which I loved. I would definitely eat again. The real game changer for me was actually the cajun fries at Popeye’s. If I had known their fries were that good, I would’ve been ordering the chicken sandwich meal for years!
All in all, both Chic Fil A and Popeye’s have fantastic chicken sandwiches. No matter which you choose, you will be satisfied, trust me.
